• 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. lemon zest
  • 1lb. pitted cherries
  • 2-4 pears, peeled and cut into pieces

    Combine wine, brown sugar and lemon zest in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Stir in cherries and pears. Reduce heat and simmer 10-15 minutes. Serve warm or cold. Serving suggestions: Spoon over cookies, slice of pound cake or ice cream.
